In my house we call Dan Berkeland “Dan The Baker.” Dan is a renaissance man, but his interest in baking is what turned him into one of the Central Coast’s most prolific producers of bread and croissants. We talked about his upbringing in Inglewood, running track and cross country at Cal Poly, cooking and painting for ten years in Italy, and how his curiosity in baking and a love for his neighborhood developed into a full-fledged business.
